Situated almost midway between Darjeeling and Siliguri is this little town Kurseong which means ‘Land of the White Orchid’ in the Lepcha Language.
The place gained prominence when the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway line to Darjeeling was constructed and Kurseong became the headquarters.
The town is surrounded by some of the most well known tea gardens internationally, producing some of Darjeeling’s finest tea.
The town also has some of the most well known educational institutions of the region such as the Victoria Boys School, Dow Hill Girls School, Goethal’s Memorial School and St. Helen’s Convent.
